Multiple Connection

ArthaChitra is a broker/datafeed agnostic platform and supports multiple connections. ArthaChitra lets one to connect to multiple connections at the same time. Say you are connected to connection A and appending realtime data from it, however for historical data want to connect to connection B, then you can do so. Again you are connected to your broker, while you want to append the data from a generic data feed provider. ArthaChitra supports all such scenarios.

You can predefine your preferred realtime and historical data provider based on Instrument type (stocks futures etc) from Settings > Options > Connection tab > Preferred Connection. If you are not connected to the preferred connectivity provider as defined in the 'Preferred Connection' settings then ArthaChitra will refer to the first available connection (provided it supports the instrument type).

Lets illustrate a scenario.

  • In Main View menu bar goto Settings > Options > Connection tab
  • Select Interactive Brokers connection as your preferred historical data connection for Futures and Options
  • Select Quandl connection as your preferred historical data connection for Index and Stocks.
  • Exit the Options view by clicking on the Close button.
  • In Main View menu bar goto Connection > Available Connections

Once connected (to both the connection) ArthaChitra will pull Daily data for stocks and indices from Quandl while data for Futures and Options, or Minute or Tick data requests will be pulled from Interactive Brokers. Since Quandl does not provides data for forex or minute or tick data, the same will be pulled from Interactive Brokers.
