How to place an order

ArthaChitra lets you place order manually from a host of views. Before placing an order please make sure to select the account, quantity, product type etc. Please follow the below steps to do it:

Right click on the View
In the context menu click on Account > {Account Name} to set the account
In the context menu set the quantity from Quantity > {Set the quantity}
In the context menu set the Product Type from Product Type > {Select ProductType}
In the context menu set the Time In Force from 'Time In Force' > {select Time In Force}

Once you have pre-configured the order settings, place the orders from the Views as described below

Charts

To place an order from the Chart View please follow the below steps:

Move the cursor at the price at which you plan to place the order
Right click on the chart
Click on the Buy/Sell or Buy Stop/Sell Stop menu item

Note: If the cursor is below the closing price of the last bar then the OrderAction and OrderType will be:

OrderAction = Buy; OrderType = Limit
OrderAction = Sell; OrderType = Stop Market
OrderAction = Sell; OrderType = Stop Limit

On the other hand if the cursor is above the closing price of the last bar then the OrderAction and OrderType will be:

OrderAction = Sell; OrderType = Limit
OrderAction = Buy; OrderType = Stop Market
OrderAction = Buy; OrderType = Stop Limit

Chart Trader Panel

The Chart View has panel on the right side which can be invoked by:

Right click on the chart
In the context menu click on option 'Show Chart Trader'

The default chart trader template dons a Dynamic DOM. You can however change the template or still can create your own template and can change the very look and feel of the software. To change the template please follow the below steps:

Right click on the chart
In the context menu goto Template > {Name of the template}

Dynamic DOM

The Dynamic Depth of Market (DOM) View populates a price ladder and lets user to place orders at a click of a button.

To place an order, just move the cursor to the desired price level. If you want to Buy then place the cursor on the green column on the left. If you want to sell then place the cursor on the pink column in the right

To place a Limit order press CTRL + Mouse click at desired price level.
To place a Stop Limit order press ALT + Mouse click at desired price level
To place a Stop Market order press SHIFT + Mouse click at desired price level

To place a Market order click on the 'BUY MARKET' or 'SELL MARKET' button

To Close a position, click on 'Close Position' > select {Product Type}

To Reverse a position click on 'Reverse Position' > select {Product Type}

Market Watch

The Market Watch View and the Market Scanner View provides the traditional Buy/Sell dialog to place an order.

Right click on the View and click on Buy or Sell menu item
In the Order dialog set the order parameters
Click on the Buy/Sell button

Note: You can also press the '+' (plus) or '-' (minus) key to invoke the Order Dialog

ArthaChitra lets you create Xaml Templates to design the view of the Market Watch View. You can create order buttons and place orders directly from there also. ArthaChitra has some pre-defined templates and you can invoke it from:

Right click on the Market Watch View
In the context menu goto Template > {Name of the template}

Main View

Orders place from any views be it from the Chart or the DOM or the Market Watch will be listed in the Main View > Orders tab. You can modify the price and quantity or can cancel the orders from the Main View. Fore more details please click here
